Gen-stories, alternate endings or future-stories

Hey there

I'm pretty new to Merlin fanfic and just recently watched the ending of s5. Now that I'm watching the former seasons, I definitely want more.

I'd love (and give away cookies) well-written stories that

1) are set in the canon timeline and have a good characteristic of the people, with maybe Arthur seeming a bit less clueless sometimes. No magical reveal for this, please, just some adventures with them being bromantic and best friends.

OR

2) tells an adventure where Merlin can't use magic for some reason (Magical flu? Whatever) and has to rely on his wits, luck and Arthur's own skills to keep the king/prince alive.

OR

3) start in the future, where old-Merlin finally finds his friend again - no matter when, can even be on a space-ship. Would be kinda cool if Arthur doesn't remember his old life and Merlin has to carefully steer him where he needs to be.

OR

4) re-write the ending of s5, meaning Arthur lives and doesn't die young but at the age the legend hints at.


I wouldn't mind some hurt!Arthur, but it's not a requirement. Please no slash. Canon-pairings are fine.


I hope it's ok that I put all these in one request, but actually they aren't very different. I basically want feel-good adventurous fics with Merlin and Arthur that make me forget that Arthur dies ;-)
